Esther Kwan won TVB's first Best Actress with Lady Flower Fist in 1997, her acting skills is full marks. In real life, Esther is the Best Actress too. To become a good mother she left the screen to take care of her daughter. 2007 she returned as a good actress to film Best Selling Secrets. March 2008 to prepare her daughter for school she left again. May 2009 for fans, she returned to film TVB's 25 episodes series The Season Of Fate. Siu Yan Jei invites this great actress in front of the screen and sweet mother behind the screen, Esther Kwan Wing Ho.
SYJ: We have Lin Shueng Chun's boss. [Should be Hei Seung Fung]
Esther: Good morning, good morning.
SYJ: Good morning Esther.
Esther: Good morning Siu Yan Jei.
SYJ: It is really nice to watch.
Esther: Thank you, thank you.
SYJ: Made me very busy...
Esther: Not enough sleep.
SYJ: ...have to watch it.
SYJ: Why did you choose to film this? You saw the script and saw it was good so you filmed it?
Esther: It was actually the right timing. I didn't think of filming anything. I wanted to rest, but during that time my husband (Nick Cheung) had more time. My daughter (Brittany) had her summer holidays, there were lots of activities organized for her during her summer holidays.
SYJ: So you had more time.
Esther: More time... more time and the script came and I thought it was interesting, with the cast, everything was tempting.
SYJ: Did the producer keep calling you?
Esther: He didn't have to call a lot. After we talked about it, the script editors told the story and it was interesting so we start to talk about it in depth.
SYJ: Esther, so Michelle is pretending... she lost her memory and calls you mother. Did you laugh/NG?
Esther: At first I wasn't use to it, because the daughter I usually see is really small. All of a sudden someone this old calls me mother, but slowly got used to it. We talk about children, Michelle has... I ask her because she has lots of nephews and nieces so she has experience with little kids too and she'll tell me.
SYJ: So Esther is concentrating on being a mother.
Esther: I need to concentrated.
SYJ: Will you film again?
Esther: I won't burn the bridge (say no), I'll film but I'll rest for a bit and let Brittany get used to her... her...
SYJ: Kindergarten life.
Esther: Yes, she is starting with her social life. She doesn't adapt to it right away.
SYJ: Birthday parties.
Esther: And she's the only daughter, only one child, there is no one to fight for toys with her at home. She doesn't know what to do at school.

SYJ: Nick said you like to work, working is more comfortable than taking care of your daughter.

Esther: Depends if you adapt to it or not. I've been doing this work for a long time and put lots of time in it. It is easier to pick up. Being a mother is being with a lively...

Esther: Different stages, sometimes being with the child so much. The child affected me the most. My personalities are like this but during public events... I don't want to be embarrassed. When it's so exciting it is easy to forget. I remind myself not to be to too over. After giving birth, being with the child, everything is exaggerated.
SYJ: You need to give response to tell them 'mom knows'.
Esther: Yes, something small you have to be 'WA So happy!', voice, tone, and actions are bigger. Something inside is released. There is that change.
SYJ: 100% into the role of a mother. Is your daughter like you, very tough?
Esther: She is... her personality... she isn't tough... she is girly... she is more girly than me. She is the very girly girl type, but her personality is like me.
SYJ: Tough on the outside, soft in the inside.
Esther: I don't know about tough, haven't seen it yet. She will do the stuff she promised you.
SYJ: That's good.
Esther: I think it is pretty good, she is so little.
SYJ: Yes, you taught her well.
Esther: If you tell her to wake up, told her to wake up at what time and not cry. She can wake up and not cry if she promised you.
SYJ: Once mothers talk about their daughter their voice become so soft. Nick is jealous because Brittany is closer to you.
Esther: Well not really, I'm with her more. I think he said that because my style suits her more. I am the caring type. Sometimes daddy will play with her but trick her.

Esther: Can't, need to wait for Brittany to go to primary school till it is better. These 2 years...
SYJ: You won't have time when she is in primary school, lots of exams and lots of stuff to do.
Esther: but those... but those she will handle herself. She isn't going to local government schools so she probably won't be as busy.
SYJ: Don't think so light about it.
Esther: I'll think about it more relaxing for now.
SYJ: So do what you want to do.
Esther: It is good.

Roger: Lately I've been teaching him [his son, Brad] to say Chinese New Year phrases (Gong Hei).
Esther: Oh ya.. need to learn this.
Reporter: Really? Will there be more lucky money?
Roger: I hope, I hope to help him get some money too.
Esther: The main point is after teaching he/she won't... after you teach him/her everyone is happier and they won't be AHHH once you go near [very excited].
Roger: Lots of experience, 4 years of getting red pocket experience.
Esther: Ya, I taught her how to say Gong Hei Fat Choi but no one understand what she said.
Reporter:... Nick said if her daughter is dating someone from the entertainment industry he will advise them to split up, but Esther doesn't think so.
Esther: Of course he'll say that, but this kind of stuff... when he was pursuing me... (all laugh) If someone rejects him he will still continue to pursue, you can't just tell them to split up or do anything.
Reporter (to Roger): What kind of comment do you have? Your other half (Cindy) was from the entertainment industry too.
Roger: What problem is it, as long as he likes her.
