Having Maggie’s comeback was definitely sometime to look forward to.
2009’s summer was definitely exciting.
First March was My Better Half/Maggie, then May was The Season Of Fate/Esther and July was Suspects In Love/Flora but all 3 of them are sadly disappointing series. My Better Half is considered one of the better one.
I almost wanted to drop it because I just put it off for a long time.

Performances
Not much to say since there isn’t much about the series anyways…
Maggie Cheung is definitely one of the better actresses although I never have been a fan, only liked her in a performance imitating Liza (Hot Coffee) but I haven’t seen a lot of her anyways. I’ve heard she is really strict in picking her roles/script so it makes me question why she chose this as her ‘comeback’. Other than working with Michael Miu I don’t see any other reason, unless the script is really that interesting on paper.
Teresa Lee made the show great for the second half. Although she has an accent (which is more like a different beat/tone of speaking) it is not annoying or weird and she can actually perform really wild unlike You’re Hired where she hardly had anything to do. Very adorable character.

This series seemed to have lots of links to the entertainment world.
Having ‘the four’ as HK’s four heavenly kings, ending with Michael Miu’s ‘talk show’ and seems like lots of actual events that happened in the entertainment circle.
If someone knows the HK entertainment news they could make a list of things they used.
This became more ‘serious’ near the end/second half.

It seems like so there wasn’t much plot/storyline (if there was one at first) at all. They seemed to not know what to do after having Maggie and Michael resolve their problem and just took a lot of things that happened and put it in and having more lines Derek and Mimi, Oscar and Grace did not help since they weren’t really developed. Overall Teresa’s scenes were fun to watch (correction: were the only ones fun to watch) and I finished it off pretty quick after I picked it up because of her.

My Rating: 6/10, won’t re-watch
